TE3 - Sub 1V CMOS: SOI or BULK?
-- (Salon 8)
Moderator/Organizer: Jan Sevenhans, Alcatel, Antwerp, Belgium
and/or
Moderator/Organizer: Christer Svensson, Link÷ping University, Sweden
SOI is technicaly superior to BULK CMOS and has advantages for low power and low supply voltage. The main-stream technology for CMOS components is BULK CMOS because of unprocessed SOI wafer cost. The panel will speak and the audience will respond and judge SOI versus BULK in a democratic vote.
Questions remain concerning: SOI wafer cost and production level, power versus cost, functional density, and processing complexity.
