The 1997 Program features 164 technical papers authored by experts from 15 countries around the world. The 1997 Conference emphasizes papers addressing Multimedia.
Four addresses by leading authorities make up the Plenary Session that opens the Conference: "Technologies for Multimedia Systems on a Chip" by J. Borel of SGS-Thomson Microelectronics, "50 Years Doun, 50 Years to Go - A History of the Transistor and Where It Will Lead Us," By W. Brinkman of Lucent Technologies, "Multimedia Impact on Devices in the 21st Century" by H. Yasuda of NTT Corp., and "The Network Computer and Its Future" by R. Brodersen of UC Berkeley.
The program includes nine evening sessions devoted to informal discussion of controversial topics of current interest. Panels of technical experts will evoke lively audience participation as they debate the issues. In 1997, ISSCC offers a Short Course, "RF CMOS Circuit Design for Personal Communication Systems." The course will be held at the San Francisco Marriott Hotel on Tuesday February 4, two days before the official opening of ISSCC97. See pages 62 and 63 of this Advance Program for further information.
In 1997, ISSCC again offers a choice of up to three of a total of six tutorials on Wednesday, February 5, the day before the opening of the Conference. The objective of these tutorials is introduction to the specialized circuit areas that are the focus of ISSCC97. See pages 64 and 65 of this Advance Program for further information.
