CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

ISSCC96, the 43st ISSCC, will be held Thursday through Saturday, February 8-10 at the San Francisco Marriott Hotel (downtown).

The 1996 Program features 160 technical papers authored by experts from 15 countries worldwide. The 1996 Conference emphasizes papers addressing the implementation of a system on a chip.

3 addresses by leading authorities make up the Plenary Session that opens the Conference: "Multimedia Complex on a Chip" by H. Sasaki of NEC Corp., "Camera on a Chip" by B. Ackland of ATT Bell Labs, and "One-Chip Television" by L. Nederlof of Philips Semiconductors.

The Program includes eight evening sessions devoted to informal discussion of controversial topics of current interest. Panels of technical experts will evoke lively audience participation as they debate the issues.

In 1996, ISSCC offers a short course, "Introduction to Digital TV." The course will be held at the San Francisco Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, February 6, two days before the opening of ISSCC96. See page 61 of this Advance Program for further information.

In 1996, ISSCC again offers a choice of up to three of six tutorials on the Wednesday morning before the opening of the Conference. The objective of these tutorials is introduction to the specialized circuit areas that are the focus of ISSCC96. See pages 62 and 63 of this Advance Program for further information.

On Thursday, there will be a social hour for all registrants from 4:45 to 5:45 pm in the Ballroom Foyer (outside the Technical Sessions). Author interviews for that day will be a part of the Social Hour.

CONFERENCE SITE

All Technical Sessions will be held in the Yerba Buena Ballroom of the San Francisco Marriott. Author Interviews will be held in the foyer outside the Ballroom, each afternoon. All technical sessions are accessible to handicapped participants. The layout of the Yerba Buena Ballroom appears on the inside front cover of this Advance Program. Cash-and-carry coffee service will be available outside the ballrooms between 8:30 and 10:00am Thursday through Saturday and in the afternoon on Thursday and Friday.

CONFERENCE PUBLICATIONS

Conference Publications can be purchased at the Conference Registration Desk. Prices are lower for purchases on site.

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

The form for advance registration is found at the center of this Advance Program. Payment may be made IN U.S. DOLLARS ONLY by order, or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express). The deadline for advance registration by mail or FAX is January 10. After that registrations will be accepted at the on-site rate. Refunds or substitutions can be made only by written request received before January 10.

The conference registration form and inquiries must be sent to:

ISSCC, 701 Welch Road - Suite 2205, Palo Alto, CA 94304;

Telephone: 415-327-6622; FAX 415-321-9692.

Registrations sent by FAX will be accepted only if payment by credit card is included. All students are asked to register on-site and must have their student ID with them to qualify for the $75 student fee. Payment of a normal registration fee entitles the registrant to one copy of the Digest of Technical Papers and Slide Supplement, and tickets for the Social Hour. (Students receive only the Digest.) Additional copies of the Digest and Slide Supplement can be purchased on-site at the Registration Desks. Please note that following the Conference, the prices of these publications are higher because of mailing costs. Availability for purchase following the Conference depends upon the number of on-site sales.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

Conference participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations and for paying all bills upon check-out. Please use the hotel reservation form found at the center of this Advance Program and either mail or FAX it to the San Francisco Marriott, 55 Fourth Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, along with a check or credit card information to guarantee your reservation. The hotel FAX number for reservations only is 415-442-0141. The hotel telephone number for reservations only is 415-442-6755.

Do not send or Fax the Hotel Form to the IEEE Office in Palo Alto.

It is vital that hotel reservations reach the Marriott by January 10,1995. After January 10, rooms may still be available but will not be at the Conference rates. When contacting the San Francisco Marriott, be sure to tell them you are with ISSCC to obtain Conference rates. Be sure to include your own Fax number on your hotel reservation form so they can confirm your reservation immediately.

The special Conference rates will also be available on a limited basis for the weekends prior to and following the Conference. The hotel offers both non-smoking and handicap-accessible rooms that can be requested when making reservations.

HOTEL COUPON

Each participant paying the full Conference registration fee (this excludes students, speakers, and members of the press) will be given a coupon worth a credit of $100 toward a stay of two or more nights at the San Francisco Marriott during the period February 6-11, 1996. This coupon will be given to individual registrants at time of registration. Coupon subject to change without prior notice. Limited to space available at SF Marriott. The coupon may be redeemed at the Front Desk of the Marriott at any time after a stay of two nights. The coupon is not redeemable in cash, nor can it be used at any hotel other than the San Francisco Marriott. Make reservations well before January 10 to obtain the special Conference rates. The combination of the lower rate plus the coupon will result in substantial savings to the individual attendee. Please help the Conference by booking rooms early at the Marriott. A full room block qualifies ISSCC for complimentary use of the meeting space and will help to keep the registration fees from escalating.

TRANSPORTATION

Those who drive automobiles to the Conference will find public parking lots near the Marriott at locations shown on the map inside the back cover.
